Discover the peace of knowing your faith is genuine
“We know that we have come to know him if we keep his commands.”
-1 John 2:3
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.”
– Ephesians 2:8
“If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!”
– 2 Corinthians 5:17
If you grew up in church like I did, you were likely given many opportunities to pray the sinner’s prayer. Often, the invitation to ask Jesus into your heart was prefaced with a
simple question:
“Do you want to go to heaven?”
Who doesn’t want to go to heaven?
I’ve lost count of the number of times I prayed the sinner’s prayer as a child. After a while,
I would end my prayer with these words:
“This time, I really mean it.”
Can you relate?
Yet even after all those prayers, I still had no assurance.

I’ve lost count of the number of times I prayed the sinner’s prayer as a child. After a while, I would end my prayer with these words:
“This time, I really mean it.”
Can you relate?
Yet even after all those prayers, I still had no assurance.
For years, I wrestled with uncertainty about my salvation. Everything changed when I turned to God’s Word and carefully studied what Scripture teaches about salvation. That’s where I found assurance.
In the years that followed, I began to notice something concerning: many people professed to know Jesus, yet showed little evidence of a transformed life. It brought me back to the same question I had once struggled with:
What does genuine faith really look like?
You don’t have to guess where you stand with God.
Instead of relying on past prayers, church attendance, or good intentions, the Bible calls us to examine ourselves and gives us tests to do so.
“Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith.”
— 2 Corinthians 13:5
True saving faith is more than words—it results in a transformed life. God’s Word shows us the difference between profession and possession.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”
— 2 Corinthians 5:17
When faith is grounded in Christ and confirmed by Scripture, assurance follows. God desires His children to live with confidence, peace, and hope.
“I write these things to you who believe… so that you may know that you have eternal life.”
— 1 John 5:13
That question led me to write Seven Words You Never Want to Hear.
